Melissa Hamilton

Workshop Instructor

Melissa Hamilton received her education in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Utah State University. She has performed many lead operatic roles, including Konstanze in Mozart's "The Abduction from the Seraglio", Musetta in "La Boheme", Cio Cio San in "Madama Butterfly", Suor Angelica in "Suor Angelica", Valencienne, in Opera Idaho's "The Merry Widow" in 2004, and Yum-Yum in Opera Idaho's 'The Mikado". She is a regular featured soloist, and has performed in various productions ranging from oratorio works to educational outreach programs.

In 2008, Melissa played the feisty Kathy Selden- a singing, tap-dancing romantic lead, in Boise Music Week's acclaimed production of "Singin' In the Rain". Melissa's musical theater background includes roles such as Guenevere in "Camelot", Julie Jordan in "Carousel", Grace Ferrell in "Annie", Polly Baker in "Crazy For You", and Tuptim in "The King & I" among others. She has served in several music teachers' associations, and was the 2003-2004 VP of Treasure Valley's National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). Melissa has taught voice classes for Boise State University's Music Department and currently runs a private voice studio.

Tiffany Calas

Workshop Instructor

Tiffany received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University. She has studied at The Manhattan School of Music, where she was the Assistant Director of the Preparatory Division. Tiffany performs frequently as a concert soloist throughout the Treasure Valley and as a featured soloist for Opera Idaho. As a member of their Resident Company, she has performed the roles of Zita in "Gianni Schicchi", Mercedes in "Carmen", and Katisha in "The Mikado". She was also a lead in Opera Idaho's production of "Jacques Brel". Recent performances include Alisa in "Lucia di Lammermoor" and the Mother in "Amahl and the Night Visitors", a role she will resume during Opera Idaho's 2010-2011 season. Upcoming performances also include Mrs. Webb in Ned Rorem's opera "Our Town". Tiffany has been a Guest Artist for Boise State University's Opera Theater production of "The Medium", in which she was the title role. Musical Theater performances include The Witch in "Into the Woods", Ruth in "Pirates of Penzance", Martha Cratchet in "A Christmas Carol", among others, and various theater venues. Tiffany was also the Director of Opera Idaho's three Children's Choruses and its Outreach Program for 4 years. A member of several music teachers' associations, Tiffany is an Adjunct Voice Professor at Boise State University and maintains a large private voice studio in Meridian.
